Description

Hon is a 22% ABV apple soju from Gyeongsangbuk-do, distilled from Mungyeong apples. Mungyeong county sits in a mountain valley with ideal conditions for apple cultivation — sharp temperature swings between day and night that concentrate sugars and aromatics in the fruit. At 22%, Hon occupies a gentle middle ground, prioritizing the apple's natural expression over distillation intensity. The nose is fragrant and fruit-forward — fresh Mungyeong apple, a touch of apple blossom, and a clean, orchard-fresh crispness. On the palate, the body is light with a smooth, delicate texture. The apple character is clear and genuine, delivering a natural sweetness that tastes of the fruit rather than added sugar. There is a pleasant acidity in the mid-palate — bright and refreshing, like biting into a just-picked apple — that keeps the spirit lively and prevents it from becoming cloying. The finish is short to moderate, clean, and fruity, with a gentle apple-skin dryness. The 375ml bottle is approachable and casual. Serve chilled at 8-12°C as a light aperitif, with mild Korean dishes like steamed egg or tofu, or as a refreshing palate cleanser between courses.
