Description
Myeongin Andong Soju 22% is a 22% ABV craft spirit from Gyeongsangbuk-do that distills rice, nuruk, and water through the centuries-old Andong soju tradition under the guidance of Korean Food Master No. 6, Park Jae-seo. At 22%, this sits at the accessible end of the Andong spectrum, designed for food-friendly drinking rather than contemplation. The nose is soft and grain-forward - steamed rice, a clean lactic note from nuruk, and a gentle warmth that barely registers at this proof. On the palate, the body is light-medium with a smooth, almost silky texture. The grain character is clean and direct, with a subtle rice sweetness that stays composed rather than cloying. Nuruk contributes a faint umami depth that gives the spirit more dimension than its simple ingredient list suggests. The mid-palate is open and gently warming, with no rough edges. The finish is short and clean, leaving a soft rice sweetness and quiet grain warmth. The 2015 Find-a-Brewery designation reinforces the producer's craft identity. At 360ml, serve lightly chilled alongside jjigae, jeon, or the full spread of a Korean family meal where the gentle profile complements without drawing attention to itself.
