Chusa Apple Wine is a 12% ABV fruit wine from Yesan Apple Wine Brewery in Chungcheongnam-do, made solely from domestically grown Korean apples. The single-ingredient approach lets the apple character speak without interference, and the result is a focused, clean expression of Korean orchard fruit. The nose is immediately recognizable — crisp apple skin, ripe Fuji-like sweetness, and a faint cidery brightness that lifts the aromatics. On the palate, the body is light-medium with a smooth, rounded texture. The apple sweetness is generous but never cloying, balanced by a natural malic acidity that keeps the profile lively and food-compatible. There is a pleasing sense of freshness throughout, as if biting into a just-picked apple. The finish is clean, moderate, and leaves a subtle green-apple tartness. The wine won the Grand Prize for fruit wine at the 2015 Korea Traditional Liquor Competition, a distinction that places it among the finest Korean apple wines produced. The 375ml bottle invites personal enjoyment or pairing-focused sessions. Serve at 8-11°C with sashimi or hoe where the apple acidity cleanses rich fish oils, with young mild cheeses, or with light appetizers like smoked salmon canapés where the fruit brightness complements without competing.
