타미앙스
Tamiangseu is a 40% ABV herbal spirit from Jeollanam-do crafted by Korean Food Master No. 22, Yang Dae-su, using Korean rice and traditional medicinal botanicals. The 2013 Korea Sool Awards grand prize and 2014 international gold medals validate a production that bridges Korean herbal tradition with polished modern distillation. The nose is refined and gently aromatic — clean rice distillate provides the framework, while the medicinal botanicals add layers of dried root, gentle bark sweetness, and a faint resinous quality. The integration is seamless; the herbs smell like they belong rather than being imposed. On the palate, the body is medium with a remarkably silky texture that belies the 40% proof. The rice foundation is clean and neutral, allowing the botanical character to project: a steady herbal warmth, a woody sweetness that builds gradually, and a measured bitterness that provides structural definition without astringency. The silkiness is the defining quality here — the spirit coats and glides rather than gripping. The finish is moderately long with herbal warmth persisting, a clean medicinal undertone, and a dry, polished exit. At 400ml, serve at room temperature alongside jeon where the silky texture complements crispy edges, or with raw fish where the botanical depth adds aromatic interest without weight.
