Description
Seonunsan Black Raspberryju is a 16% ABV bokbunja wine from Heungjin Brewery in Gochang, Jeollabuk-do, presented in a compact 375ml bottle. At 16% and with Gochang-sourced black raspberries, it delivers concentrated berry character with enough lift to pair beyond dessert. The nose opens with ripe black raspberry and a jammy sweetness, underscored by a subtle tartness. On the palate, the body is medium-full with a smooth, rounded flow. The sweetness is generous but not cloying - the bokbunja's natural acidity provides a tart underpinning that keeps the palate interested, and the 16% alcohol adds warmth without sharpness. The finish is moderate and fruit-driven, with a clean berry tail. Winner of the 2018 Korea Traditional Liquor Awards Excellence Prize in the fruit wine category. Serve at 10-13°C with hoe where the berry acidity and sweetness complement raw fish's sesame-soy dipping sauces, alongside cheese where the dark-fruit profile finds fat-based contrast, or with light starters where the compact format encourages focused pairing.
