Hwanggeum Barley Distilled Spirit 40 is the flagship high-proof expression in the Hwanggeum Barley series from Chungcheongnam-do, bottled at 40% ABV with over 40% domestic barley. This is where the series' barley character reaches its most aromatic and concentrated register: warm grain perfume, subtle fermentation spice from nuruk, and a clean, precise landing despite the considerable strength. The nose opens with depth, but the palate avoids heaviness, arriving crisp and defined. Among the three expressions (17, 25, 40), this is the one most suited to neat sipping or pairing with dishes robust enough to match its intensity. Fructose provides a light counterbalance to the spirit's dry edge.
