블루베리 이야기
Blueberry Iyagi (Blueberry Story) is a 12% ABV fruit wine from Sandeul Beos Brewery in Jeollabuk-do, made with an equal 50-50 blend of domestic wild grape (sanmeoru) and blueberry. This dual-fruit approach is structurally smart: wild grape provides tannic backbone and dark-berry depth that blueberry alone would lack, while blueberry contributes a bright, jammy accessibility that wild grape alone might make too austere. The nose shows dark berry, a faint earthy-grape note from the sanmeoru, and fresh blueberry juice. On the palate, the body is medium with more structure than a typical sweet fruit wine — the wild grape's natural tannin creates a gentle grip in the midpalate. The sweetness is moderate, and the two fruits create a layered flavor arc: blueberry leads the attack with its easy fruitiness, then wild grape takes over in the mid-to-late palate with a slightly drying, more complex finish. The 375ml bottle makes it a focused pairing choice. Serve at 8-11°C with aged cheese where the tannin finds structure, alongside light desserts where the blueberry sweetness adds a colorful note, or with dark chocolate where the wild grape's depth matches cocoa.
