Mujugucheondong Wild Grape Wine is a 12% ABV fruit wine from Jeollabuk-do, made with Korean wild grapes (meoru) harvested in the Muju region. Unlike its higher-proof sibling, this 12% expression takes a softer, more approachable path while still preserving the essential wild-grape identity. Muju sits at the convergence of mountain valleys where meoru vines climb through mixed forest canopy, giving the fruit a distinctive wild-berry character that orchard grapes cannot replicate. The nose opens with bright wild strawberry, crushed blackberry leaf, and a fresh, slightly tart sweetness. On the palate, the body is light-medium with a clean, flowing texture that feels more refreshing than heavy. The sweetness is lively and well-lifted by natural acidity, making it genuinely food-friendly rather than purely a dessert pour. Wild grape tannins are present but gentle, adding a light grip that maintains interest. The finish is moderate, clean, and leaves a pleasant berry freshness. The 750ml bottle works well for casual meals and gatherings. Serve at 10-13°C with mild cheeses and crackers, alongside light appetizers like vegetable tempura, or with hoe (raw fish) where the wine's brightness cleanses the palate between bites.
