Gwacheonmiju is a 9% ABV traditional rice drink from Gyeonggi-do, brewed with freshly harvested Gyeonggi rice (haepsal), yeast, and nuruk. The result is a calm, balanced style that sits between the lightness of low-proof makgeolli and the structure of higher-proof yakju. Grain sweetness is present but measured, and the smooth texture flows easily through a meal without overpowering the accompanying dishes. Its moderate weight makes it equally comfortable alongside grilled meats and banchan-focused Korean tables.
