Reukkallong is a 16% ABV flavored spirit from Jeollanam-do crafted by Chuseong Goeul Brewery under the legacy of Korean Food Master No. 22, Yang Dae-su. Its formulation is unusual: bamboo sap extract (jungnyeok) forms the aromatic backbone, while melon, lime, and coconut flavorings create a tropical aromatic overlay rare in Korean traditional spirits. The bamboo sap provides a subtle vegetal-mineral quality beneath the fruit notes, grounding the otherwise playful flavor profile with an earthy Asian identity. The result is a spirit that feels simultaneously exotic and locally rooted, reflecting the Food Master's willingness to push boundaries within tradition.
