Jipyeong Irang Irang — Korean Makgeolli, Gyeonggi, 5% ABV, 750ml. Herbal, Lemon-zest
Korean Makgeolli

Jipyeong Irang Irang

지평 이랑이랑

ABV5%
Volume750ml

Description

Jipyeong Irang Irang from Gyeonggi-do takes the familiar Jipyeong brewery name and pushes it in an unusually aromatic direction. At 5% ABV, the rice base is fermented with yeast and kuk starter, then lifted by lemon concentrate and an herbal blend that adds a savory-green dimension rarely found in mainstream makgeolli. Xylitol handles the sweetness in place of sugar or high-fructose syrup, keeping the palate noticeably cleaner — there is no sticky aftertaste clinging to the teeth. The aroma opens with lemon peel and a faint eucalyptus-like herbal note before settling into soft grain. On the first sip, the creamy rice body meets a citrus-herbal brightness that keeps things lively without tipping into acidity. The finish is short and dry-leaning, which is what makes this bottle so effective with fried food. Crispy Korean fried chicken stays crispy when paired with this because the drink refreshes the palate between bites rather than adding weight. It also handles haemul pajeon and spicy kimchi jjigae comfortably, cutting through oil and heat alike.
