Hongsammyeongju is a 14% ABV traditional drink from Chungcheongbuk-do made with domestically cultivated red ginseng, the steamed and dried variant of Korean ginseng that develops deeper, more concentrated ginsenoside compounds through the heat-processing cycle. Unlike white ginseng infusions that tend toward sharp bitterness, red ginseng brings an earthier, almost caramelized root sweetness that anchors the flavor profile. The 14% strength positions it comfortably between low-ABV table drinks and higher-proof medicinal spirits, giving enough body for the ginseng to express itself without overwhelming the palate.
