Wry Seomak is a Seoul-based brewery in Seongdong-gu, producing Wry Gwahaju and Pink Salt Makgeolli, innovative Korean rice wines.
우리WRY 과하주
Woori WRY Gwahaju is an 18% ABV gwahaju from Seoul, crafted by Uriseomak using Korean rice, nuruk, yeast, lactic acid bacteria, and added spirit. The gwahaju method — fortifying a fermented rice base with grain spirit — preserves the aromatic depth of fermentation while adding structural punch. Lactic acid bacteria contribute a mild, yogurt-tinged acidity that keeps the sweetness honest. At 700ml, this is a versatile table bottle for hanjeongsik, steamed seafood, and any refined Korean course where moderate proof and layered grain character are welcome.

우리WRY 분홍소금 막걸리
Uri WRY Bunhongsogeum Makgeolli is a 12% ABV makgeolli from Seoul, blending Korean rice with Himalayan pink salt, natural coloring, lactic acid bacteria, nuruk, and yeast. The pink salt addition is distinctive — rather than making the drink overtly salty, it introduces a mineral undercurrent that enhances the grain sweetness and rounds out the mouthfeel. The higher proof gives this more structure than typical makgeolli, while lactic acid bacteria provide a gentle tang. At 700ml, it pairs naturally with fried foods, jeon, and spicy dishes where the mineral-salted body offers contrast.
