Hansanyedameun Hansan Sogokhwaju is a 41% ABV distilled spirit from Chungcheongnam-do, following the traditional Sogokhwa method but incorporating an unusually rich botanical palette: glutinous rice, non-glutinous rice, nuruk, soybean, and gujeolcho (Chrysanthemum zawadskii, a wild mountain chrysanthemum). This expanded ingredient list creates a spirit of uncommon aromatic depth. The soybean adds a subtle nutty, savory undertone, while gujeolcho contributes a distinctive herbal-floral note that anchors the spirit's personality and distinguishes it from simpler grain distillates. The nose is layered and intriguing — toasted grain, dried wildflower, roasted soybean, and a warm herbal warmth. On the palate, the body is medium with a smooth, clean texture. The 41% ABV integrates well, delivering warmth without harshness. The mid-palate reveals the spirit's complexity: grain sweetness, then a nutty-savory turn, then the gujeolcho's herbaceous lift in the finish.
