Hottang is a 6% ABV makgeolli from Gyeongsangbuk-do that blends domestic peanuts with synthetic flavor compounds — walnut, soymilk, and coffee-peanut flavoring — into a rice-and-wheat fermentation base. The result is a novelty makgeolli where nutty aromatics dominate the experience from the first pour, giving it an almost snack-like identity. Despite the playful concept, the rice and wheat koji underneath maintain recognizable fermentation character, and stevia keeps the sweetness controlled rather than syrupy.
