Isangheon Takju is a 14% ABV makgeolli from Chungcheongnam-do, brewed by Igasubul Brewery using Asan-grown rice and domestic wheat nuruk (milluruk). The Asan rice provides a clean, well-defined grain backbone, while the wheat nuruk contributes a mellow lactic depth that elevates the fermentation character beyond simple sweetness. At 14%, this is a full-bodied takju that drinks with conviction — the creamy texture persists through the midpalate, and the finish carries soft warmth rather than sharp heat. Crispy jeon and pungent kimchi both find a capable partner here, as the round mouthfeel absorbs sharp flavors and the grain richness complements fried textures.
