구기홍주 360
Arirang Brewery in Chungcheongnam-do infuses this 14% traditional brew with goji berry extract and maekmundong (liriope tuber), creating a rose-amber drink with a quietly medicinal heritage. The nose opens with dried goji — a sweet, slightly musty berry quality — and a faint hay-like note from the maekmundong. On the palate, the rice base keeps things grounded and smooth, while the goji contributes a berry-sweet warmth that lingers in the midpalate. The 360ml bottle in a 14% frame makes this an accessible pour. Oligosaccharide and caramel coloring round the profile further. The finish is moderate, warm, and fruity. Try it with dakbal (spicy chicken feet) where the berry sweetness tempers the aggressive chili, or alongside japchae where the glass noodles' neutral sweetness lets the goji character shine through without competition.

겨울소주45
Gyeoul Soju 45 (Winter Soju 45) is a 45% ABV distilled soju from Chungcheongnam-do's Arirang Brewing, made entirely from 100% Korean rice distillate. The all-rice, all-distillate composition means nothing dilutes the grain's essential character: each sip delivers focused, unadorned rice aromatics with a precise, structured finish. Despite the unapologetically high proof, the texture is surprisingly sleek rather than aggressive, a testament to the quality of the base distillate. The seasonal name evokes the intensity and stillness of Korean winter — a fitting metaphor for a spirit that is bold yet composed. Small pours paired with rich, fatty foods bring out its best qualities.
