Jinan Black is a 40% ABV distilled spirit from Jeollabuk-do's Taepyeong Brewing, built on a distinctive base of puffed rice (paenghwami) and black barley. The ginseng element — both fresh ginseng and red ginseng concentrate — adds a subtle herbal lift that distinguishes this from purely grain-driven spirits. Nuruk fermentation provides a dry, polished texture, and barley-infused spirit from the base grains rounds the profile. Despite its strength, the palate reads clean rather than fiery, with enough complexity to reward neat sipping. The combination of black barley's nutty depth and ginseng's earthy warmth makes this one of the more distinctive high-proof Korean spirits available.
