Korean CheongjuEom Cheongju
엄청주
Eom Cheongju is an 18% ABV cheongju (clear rice wine) from Daegu, produced by Samo Sikpum Brewery using a distinctive combination of umnamu (Kalopanax bark), sun-dried sea salt, and native Korean honey. This trio of specialty ingredients sets it apart from most cheongju, which rely solely on rice and nuruk. The honey provides gentle sweetness on the entry, while the sea salt contributes a subtle savory undercurrent that adds dimension. The umnamu bark adds an earthy, faintly medicinal depth without dominating the palate. At 360ml and 18%, it is designed for pairing with refined Korean cuisine — grilled fish, steamed dishes, and multi-course hanjeongsik meals.
