화천용화산
Hwacheonyonghwasan is a 10% ABV traditional brew from Hwacheon county in Gangwon-do, named after the Yonghwa mountain that defines the local landscape. The recipe centers on locally grown Hwacheon rice fermented with a wheat-based starter culture (gokja), supplemented by isomaltooligosaccharide for controlled sweetness and refined enzymes for a cleaner fermentation profile. The result is a calm, rounded brew with a smooth texture and balanced grain character that avoids the lactic tang common in some makgeolli styles. At 750ml, it is sized for a full dinner pairing, performing reliably alongside both elaborate Korean table settings and simpler grilled fare.

북한강25
Bukhangang25 is a 25% ABV spirit from Hwacheon in Gangwon-do that pushes the boundaries of rice-based traditional brewing into high-proof territory. Named after the Bukhan River (Bukhangang) flowing through the region, it uses Hwacheon-grown rice, domestic nuruk, and indigenous yeast strains. Despite the elevated alcohol level, the spirit retains a surprisingly creamy core — a textural quality more commonly found in low-ABV makgeolli. The concentrated grain sweetness and warming finish make it a distinctive bridge between rice wine and distilled soju, occupying a niche that few Korean traditional beverages attempt. Packaged in a 375ml bottle, it is meant for measured pouring and contemplative sipping.
