Korean Cheongju

Yangjohakdang Nyeok

양조학당 녘

Yangjohakdang Nyeok is a 13% ABV cheongju from Gyeonggi-do, brewed by Hanguk Brewing Research Institute using domestic rice, glutinous rice, baekguk, yeast, mugwort, and pine needles. The herbal additions set it apart immediately: mugwort lends an earthy, grassy lift while pine needles contribute a clean, resinous freshness that layers beautifully over the grain base. The dual-rice foundation keeps the body silky and composed, with a dry, precise finish that suits formal dining. It pairs naturally with grilled fish, steamed dishes, and refined hanjeongsik courses where subtle aromatic complexity is welcome.
