Korean Traditional DrinkDameun
담은
1932 Pocheon Ildong Makgeolli Brewery — one of Gyeonggi-do's most venerable names, operating since 1932 — produces Dameun using domestic rice, cultured starter (ipguk), yeast, high-fructose syrup, and refined enzymes. Awarded a commendation at the 2016 Korea Traditional Liquor Quality Awards, this 6.5% bottle emphasizes balanced drinkability. The aroma is understated: clean rice starch, a hint of white floral, and a trace of fresh dough. On the palate, the body is medium-light with a polished, even-keeled grain sweetness and a smooth texture that errs toward savory. The finish is moderate and clean with a faint mineral tail. Serve at 8-10°C. Pairs with sannakji live octopus where the clean body doesn't overwhelm the delicate texture, or grilled clams (jogae-gui) with butter.
