Korean MakgeolliGyeonggi Baekju
경기백주
Gyeonggi Baekju is a 14% ABV makgeolli from Urisul Byeolcheoreom Gwacheon Doga in Gyeonggi-do, brewed with fresh-harvest Gyeonggi rice (haepsal), guk, and yeast. At 14%, it sits significantly above most makgeolli in alcohol content, which gives it unusual depth and a fuller, more vinous body for the category. The fresh rice contributes a cleaner, more vibrant grain character than aged rice would, while the higher ABV adds firmer structure and a longer, warmer finish. The 500ml bottle is sized for pairing with jeon, kimchi-focused dishes, and other boldly flavored Korean foods where a makgeolli with extra backbone is welcome.
