Cheongyang Dunsong Gugiju

청양둔송구기주

Cheongyangdunsonggugiju is a 16% ABV cheongju from Chungcheongnam-do, infusing rice and nuruk with goji berry, licorice, and eucommia bark (duchung). This botanical trio creates a layered herbal profile that moves through distinct phases: goji brings a subtle berry warmth, licorice rounds the sweetness without cloying, and eucommia bark adds a woody, almost bark-like dryness that anchors the finish. The nose opens with dried goji and a faint resinous quality. On the palate, the body is medium-full with a smooth flow, and the herbal elements weave through rather than compete — each sip reveals a different accent. Produced under Korea's Food Master designation, ensuring artisanal continuity. The 700ml bottle is sized for sharing. Serve at 13-15°C alongside samgyetang where the drink's goji-ginseng-adjacent warmth harmonizes with the chicken broth, or with sanchae-jeongsik where the mountain vegetables find kinship with the herbal notes.
