Omisiang Special

오미시앙 스페셜

Omisiang Special is a 12% ABV omija (five-flavor berry) fruit wine from Alepeu Brewery in Jeollabuk-do, fermented with yeast and finished with sugar for a polished sweet profile. Omija is one of Korea's most distinctive native berries — it delivers all five tastes (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent) in varying degrees, and this wine foregrounds the sweet-tart spectrum. The nose bursts with bright berry candy and a floral-citrus lift that feels immediately inviting. On the palate, the body is light-medium with a juicy, almost nectar-like flow. The sweetness is upfront but the omija's natural acidity prevents it from becoming flat, maintaining tension through the midpalate. The finish is moderate and fruit-forward, with a pleasant peppery warmth that recalls the berry's spicy fifth flavor. The 500ml bottle is well-suited for sharing. Serve chilled at 6-9°C with a cheese plate where the tangy sweetness cuts through fat, alongside light canapés where the fruit brightness adds color, or as a dessert companion where the five-flavor complexity matches sweet plates without redundancy.
